Repentance: The Most Important Value of Christianity

What Is most important to you when you make a mistake? Either big or small, these mistakes come with plenty of consequences; for example, of you rob someone, or committed a murder, you go straight to jail. Minor mistakes will come with certain punishments like losing your video game privileges or even grounded. Making mistakes can be rough, but how to never make the same mistake twice can be difficult. It is a hard road to take but if you are fully committed to repent for all the wrong you’ve done, then good things will slowly come to you.

The Apostle John wrote in his first letter; “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9) The word “If,” according to well-known pastor Max Lucado, might be the biggest word on scripture. If we confess our biggest mistakes to God, he will find it in his heart to forgive us for our biggest failures and forge a path of redemption and repentance. But, as John would also write; “If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. (1 John 1:10) If we do not admit it past misgivings, then we are no better than an actual criminal in prison

Once we admit our wrongs in life, we make our peace with it. We must take a bigger sin as a learning experience and never make that same mistake again so that we all must complete our road to redemption. We can’t change the past, but we can build a better future if we continue to follow God’s plan.
